Goulburn Valley Concert Orchestra

Goulburn Valley Concert Orchestra is a full community symphony orchestra based in Shepparton with members coming from Echuca, Benalla, Bunbartha and other small regional towns.  The players are community members of all ages and musical experience. GVCOs regular annual program consists of a symphonic concert in June and a Chamber Concert Series on three consecutive Sundays in August/September. GVCO encourages composers in the Goulburn Valley region to write for the orchestra or chamber groups, and a number of new works have been played in past concerts.

GVCO has selected a composer for the new composition category but is looking for someone to arrange a major orchestral work for the VCOProject competition. For contact details, upcoming concerts and general information about the GVCO check out http://gvconcertorchestra.com/orchestra.php



Squawkestra is a place where glorious sounds and harmonious playing is strongly encouraged but squawks are welcome. We are a community orchestra for adult beginners, who enjoy making music in a friendly supportive atmosphere.


Surrey Hills Orchestra

Surrey Hills Orchestra, in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, is a well established full orchestra requiring a minimum standard of AMEB grade 7 or equivalent. The orchestra performs 3 or 4 concerts per year of full symphonic works, overtures and suites,  from the classical, and late romantic repertoire with an occasional contemporary work.  The orchestra has linked up with a composer for an arrangement and is looking for a composer for the original new composition category. Dandenong Ranges Orchestra:

Bringing Music to the Hills, was established in 1984 and is a community orchestra of local musicians of all ages and abilities. The orchestra performs several concerts per year and rehearses weekly during the school terms. Dandenong Ranges Orchestra  enjoys performing a range of musical genres from classical to modern, music from movies and theatre as well as original compositions by Australian composers. Bendigo Symphony Orchestra:

Bendigo Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1981, is a community orchestra based in the central Victorian town of Bendigo. The orchestra performs three times a year and has performed music ranging from the traditional classical repertoire right through to premiers of new works by local composers. The orchestra rehearses weekly during school terms and more information about this orchestra is available at https://bendigosymphony.org/. Bendigo Symphony Orchestra is looking to work with a composer and, in particular, an arranger who is interested in arranging a work for the younger members of the Bendigo Symphony.


Ranges Young Strings:

Ranges Young Strings is an ensemble for young string players in the Yarra Ranges east of Melbourne. They learn orchestral skills and experience the joy of creating music in an ensemble. The group generally has school age students with a minimum of 18 months experience and the focus is on fun, musical challenges, performance skills and ensemble development. Ranges Young Strings is particularly interested in working with a composer on an original composition for the group but is also interested in an arrangement of a major orchestral work. Essendon Symphony Orchestra:

Essendon Symphony Orchestra is a full symphony orchestra based in Melbourne’s Moonee Valley. The Orchestra, founded in the 1990s as a string ensemble, rehearses each week during school terms and enjoys playing mostly classical music. Essendon Symphony Orchestra is interested in working with a composer on a new work for the orchestra and also an arrangement of a major orchestral work.
